- Information about Jews can be found in the presidium and administrative files, both in the general series and the series of passports, trades, associations and construction (1923-38). Relevant documents are: the passport of painter I. Weiner-Kráľ (1923); the occupation of a room in the building of the Jewish religious community in Považská Bystrica by the elementary school (1923); the statistical review of Jewish religious communities in the district (1924); the report on the maintenance of Jewish registers of deaths, births and marriages in the district (1926); establishment of the Jewish Women's Association in Považská Bystrica and its statutes (1928); the termination of the Jewish school in Považská Bystrica (1932); prohibition of the Jewish Party in Slovakia (1938); the report on the area of the Jewish register district in Považská Bystrica before 1 October 1895 (1939).
- Archival history:
- The documents were stored in the Office building, the presidium files, the administrative files and the files concerning minor offences being deposited separately. In 1941, a new building was built for the Office. In 1950-1953, the fonds moved several times. Since 1954, it had begun to be organised. In 1960, the fonds was moved to the newly established Archives seated in the Orlov mansion, where the work continued, and finally the fonds was inventoried in 1963-1964.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The Office was established in 1923 after a reorganisation of the public administration. It was headed by the district chief, who represented the office in public. The public authority was exercised by the district council, the number of its members depending on the size of the district, and by the district board. In 1939, the authority of the Office was limited and this situation lasted until 1945, when the Office was abolished.
