- Archival history:
- The fonds is an artificially created collection which was created under Act No. 268/1949 Zb. z., according to which all church and Jewish registers were declared to be property of the state and, with effect from 1 January 1950, they were transferred under the administration of the national committees. From there, they had begun to be gradually concentrated into the former regional archives since 1952. The register copies were taken over in 1956-1957 from the district national committees. The registers of Jewish religious communities were concentrated in the Central Union of Jewish Religious Communities in Bratislava and from there transferred, in 1979-1980, to the relevant state archives according to the territorial jurisdiction. The collection has been supplemented with individual documents until the present period.
