- Among the documents of the fonds, only the administrative files can be used thematically from a chronological point of view. They include information on personal data of teachers working in schools within the district of the inspectorate, on the construction of new schools, and on successive classes. These include reports on the number of pupils enrolled, the budgets and the annual accounts of each school as well as reports on the status and the conditions in schools. Among the individual administrative files there is a thematically usable report on the state of schools in the district of Nové Zámky from 1938. The Jews are mentioned in particular in the files about the Jewish Elementary School in Šurany from 1922 which contain statements about the pupils' enrollment. As numerous Jewish communities lived in the Nové Zámky district, Jewish teachers were active in schools and pupils also attended many state elementary and secondary schools and other establishments. Judaica can also be found among the personal files of teachers from 1920-1938, included in the lists of teachers from 1930-1938, 1932-1941, 1934-1938, 1920-1929, 1930-1938, and 1936-1939 where searches can be carried out by name.
- Archival history:
- After the originator of the fonds ceased to exist, the fonds was often moved and stored at various locations. Some documents were incorporated into the fonds of the District National Committee in Nové Zámky. In 1956 and 1958 the fonds was taken over by the District Archives in Nové Zámky, the predecessor of the institution where it is stored now. After the fonds was transferred to the archives, an appraisal was carried out. The fonds was completely arranged and partly inventoried in 1966.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The School Inspectorate in Nové Zámky was established on 1 September 1919 for the District Offices of Nové Zámky and Šaľa. Subsequently, the School Inspectorate II was established, including the district of Štúrovo as well as parts of Hurbanovo. The scope of the work of the inspectorate included all issues of nursery, elementary and secondary schools, educational institutions, establishing and cancelling of successive classes, some issues of school construction, budgetary affairs, proposals for appointing teachers and modifying their salaries. After the annexation of southern Slovakia by Hungary as a result of the 1st Vienna Arbitration in 1938, its tasks were taken over by the District Royal School Inspectorate in Komárno. After the return of the annexed territory to Czechoslovakia, the original organisation was renewed 1945-1949. The School Inspectorate in Nové Zámky ceased to exist in 1949 when its authority was transferred to the Department of Education of the District National Committee in Nové Zámky.
