The register of births from 1851-1879 also includes notes of changes of surnames.
There are 7 books stored in the archives dealing with the activities of the Jewish registry district based in Sečovce. - Administrative/biographical history:
- The archival collection is an artificially created collection. Under the provisions of the 1949 Act, all church and Jewish registers were declared state property and, with effect from 1 January 1950, were transferred under the administration of the national committees. The registers from the territory of Košice Region in 1949-1960 were transferred in 1952 to the former Regional Archives in Košice. Some of them were submitted to the State Archives in Levoča in 1970. The registers of Jewish religious communities were originally stored in the Central Union of Jewish Religious Communities in Bratislava from where they were moved in 1979 to the State Regional Archives in Košice. The archival collection was first inventoried in 1971. After the acquisition of other registers the fonds was arranged in 1993-1994. In 2011-2012, the archival finding aid was completed and put in electronic form. At present, the archival collection is classified as fully arranged.
- System of arrangement:
- The fonds consists of 993 official books from 1587-1952, 65 registry finding aids - indexes from 1686-1951, 46 pieces of copies and 278 pieces of microfilms. The collection is divided into two sections. The first one includes originals, the second is contains copies. Both sections are arranged in alphabetical order according to the parish seats, or Jewish registry districts or rabbinates. The inventory unit consists of one book, or one fascicle of the copies.
