- Scope and content:
- The files of the fonds have been preserved from 1936-1941. However, these are only fragments in which Judaica are presumed to be found in documents relating to Holocaust. The Jewish community is evidenced by the records of births, marriages and deaths. The notary was also in charge of keeping state registers. Thus, the fonds includes state registers, from 1895-1906, of marriages, births and deaths, regardless of religion. Gradually later registers will be handed over to the Archives. The fonds also includes minutes of the municipal council of Stráňany (now part of the town of Michalovce) from 1922-1925. An old Jewish community lived there in the past so references to it may be found in these minutes.
- Archival history:
- The documents were handed over the Archives by the Municipal Office in Vinné in 2010.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- During its existence, the District Notary Office in Vinné also administered the following municipalities: Trnava pri Laborci, Stráňany (today part of Michalovce), and Kaluža. The Office certainly existed since 1895, as the oldest archival document dates back to that year. It is assumed that it could have existed even earlier. It was headed by the district notary who had his own and delegated authorities. His own authority included dealing, in writing, with the municipal agenda. Within his delegated authority he dealt with various matters on behalf of the District Office and partly the Tax Office. After the establishment of the Czechoslovak Republic, he became a state official appointed by the Minister of the Interior instead of being a municipal officials. He was no longer a member of the self-governing bodies of municipalities, being independent of them. The Office ceased to exist in 1944.
