The documents of the fonds concern the territory which was under the authority of the Public Prosecutor's Office in Bratislava. They refer to the entire population regardless of ethnicity or religion. Numerous Judaica can be found in the documents but only those of the third handling period (1920-1949) have been preserved, being divided into several groups by individual series.
The presidential agenda has been preserved from 1920-1923, 1925-1938, and 1940-1947. Judaica are highly probable to be found in the documents issued by the end of 1938. They concern decisions of the Supreme Court in appeals against the judgments of the lower courts by individual calendar years, reports on the exclusion of newspaper articles from the parliamentary interpellations according to the decisions of the Senate Board of the National Assembly, decisions on both periodical and non-periodical publications to be excluded from the postal transport and on the prohibitions of their dissemination, and on matters concerning employees of the public prosecutor's office. Judaica are also likely to be found in other documents such as banning the publication of reports on antisemitic demonstrations (1936).
The criminal files are divided into several groups. The general files (marked St.) have the highest rate of preservation. From the pre-1926 period only a few have survived, mostly from the period of 1929-1947. They concern common crimes (fraud, theft, murder and abortion) the perpetrators and victims of which include Jews. Of particular importance are numerous documents on various manifestations of antisemitism, namely anti-Jewish brochures, leaflets, slogans, and songs as well as cases of harassment, riots, and offensive statements against Jews from 1934-1938. They include documents concerning the prosecution of members of the Hlinka Guard who broke in the synagogue in Trnava, damaged its furnishings and set it on fire (1938). There is plenty of information on companies, factories, and stores owned by Jews. They include documents reflecting antisemitism, e.g. a civil action brought by the Ješurun (the Union of Jewish Religious Communities in Slovakia) for an article against a Jewish store in Detva (1938), the prosecution of a man for attacking a policeman who prevented the looting of a Jewish store in Brezova pod Bradlom (1938), or the prosecution of a woman for spreading false alarm reports about the looting of Czech and Jewish stores (1938). Some of the files concern offences committed by newspaper publishers, e.g. Jüdische Nachrichten-Korrerspondenz in Bratislava (1935), or a lawsuit against the Jewish Religious Community for organising the boycott of a local store (1938). There is a specific file concerning the death of an inmate of the Jewish orphanage in Dunajská Streda due to a fire (1938).
The criminal agenda also includes a group of files marked Criminal press offences (Press, Tlz.) preserved from 1926-1940 and 1943-1944. They include various issues concerning antisemitism, such as seizing of books with anti-Jewish topics (e.g. Jews - the World Rulers, 1935), publications containing anti-Jewish agitation, e.g. Hungarian leaflets called A faszizmus 10. parancsolata (1935), or The Slovák newspaper (1935). This category also includes measures taken against magazines containing articles with anti-Jewish agitation (Hlas, 1935, Slovenská Pravda, Slovák, 1937) and inciting hatred against Jews (Slovenský robotník, or the Hungarian leaflet called 12. számu parancs, 1938).
The third agenda includes documents marked The Other Agenda. They include documents not filed anywhere and which are not regarding criminal matters. They are divided into groups with special tags. Thematically, one can only use the largest of them marked Nst. or Nšt. from the period of 1924-1946. These are thematically diverse documents that concern, for example, authorising the publication of Jewish periodicals (Die Neue Zeit und die Wirtschafts-, Social- and Kulturprobleme des Judentums, 1935, or the journal of the Association of Jewish Teachers in Prešov called Chronicle, 1938). In addition, they include clean criminal record statements and certificates of good integrity issued for a large number of persons, where Jews prevailed (1924), or matters concerning deputy G. Steiner, most frequently rejections of the requests for his extradition for criminal prosecution (1929-1937).
- Archival history:
- In the past, the fonds suffered great losses caused by unprofessional appraisals and the events of World War II. As a result, the files of the first two handling periods (1872-1899, 1900-1920) have not been preserved at all. The fonds was taken over, in several stages, by the predecessor of the institution where it is now. After a part of the fonds was taken over in 1961-1962, an appraisal was carried out, the fonds was inventoried, and finding aids were created for it. When the main parts of the fonds were taken over in 1975-1976, the fonds was completely catalogued. At present, the fonds is classified as fully catalogued and inventoried.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The Royal State Prosecutor's Office in Bratislava was established by Statute XXIII/1871 along with other prosecution offices in Hungary. It began to operate on 1 January 1872, originally having jurisdiction over all districts of the Bratislava County. In the period of 1920-1945 its territorial jurisdiction changed. It was an independent body performing the function of public prosecution at the court. It was headed by the public prosecutor appointed by the King. The public prosecution was independent of the courts and subject to the Minister of Justice. After the establishment of Czechoslovakia its name was changed to the Public Prosecutor's Office. It was headed by the principal public prosecutor. The authority of the Office did not change, but adapted to the new circumstances. Its jurisdiction included criminal and disciplinary matters, and supervision of prisons. It also supervised civil matters and exercised control and censorship of the press. The Public Prosecutor's Office ceased to exist on 31 January 1949.

- System of arrangement:
- The fonds contains official books from 1926-1950, registry finding aids from 1925-1950, and files from 1919-1950. The fonds is divided into three basic departments including individual agendas. The first is the presidential agenda with the pre-1924 files organised in chronological-numerical order and the post-1924 files organised into ten classes which are arranged in chronological-numerical order. The second one is the criminal agenda, divided into the general and press agendas, and the group of collaborators. It is arranged in chronological-numerical order. The third one is the other agenda. It includes documents marked Nst. or Nšt., which are further divided into groups, and chronologically arranged documents of the information station and the censor.
