- Scope and content:
- The fonds contains valuable sources relating to economic management and administration of the diocese of Olomouc. The fonds has been preserved relatively completely for the period from the start of the 17th century and for the area of today’s diocese. From the point of view of Jewish history, attention must be paid in particular to documents kept under call № C 11. This concerns general provisions on tolerance and conversion of Jews and also documents on the Jewish community in Moravia (17th-18th century). For the period after 1848, the fonds contains materials relating to tolerance towards the Jewish faith and conversion of the Jewish population in the whole of Moravia, this in particular being from 1848–1945 (boxes № 2271–2276).
- Archival history:
- The fonds was taken over for storage in the archive in 1954. The fonds is stored in the Olomouc branch of the Provincial Archives in Opava on the basis of a contract on safekeeping concluded between the Archbishopric of Olomouc and the Provincial Archives in Opava in 2006.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The creator of the fonds was the Episcopal Consistory in Olomouc, from 1777 onwards then the Archiepiscopal Consistory in Olomouc. The activity of the consistory was closely related to the functioning of the Bishopric. Its existence is already mentioned at the time of Bishop Bruno of Schaumburk in the 13th century. The consistory was made up of a Vicar General, observers (Consistory Councillors) and official staff. Judicial powers were exercised by an official and functionaries with diocesan judges.
