- The make-up of the fonds reflects the historical development of the institution and also individual core manors and chamber estates of the Bishopric of Olomouc in Moravia and also its enclave in what is now Poland. The fonds contains a lot of documents relating to Jewish history in the period before 1848. In particular, this is material from the period from the end of the 17th century until the first half of the 19th century (Jews in court and on manors, property and administrative matters of Jewish Communities, police regulations and charters, tax matters). The fonds also contains certain documents relating to the history of the Jews from the period after 1848. This in particular concerns materials relating to the Jewish Community in Osoblaha and Kroměříž (property, tax and land matters, brewing beer, distillery), relating to the Jewish eating houses Koloredov, Sviadnov and accommodation of Jewish war emigrants from Galicia (1916).
- Archival history:
- Documents in the fonds were created from the activity of central and manorial offices attached to the Directorate of the Archiepiscopal Estates. Their storage is closely linked to the episcopal, later archiepiscopal archives. Documents were stored in the manors themselves and in Olomouc, at the end of the 18th and start of the 19th century, they were moved to Kroměříž to the archiepiscopal chateau. After 1950, the former archiepiscopal archive was included in the structure of the state archives. The fonds was arranged in 1968-1974. In 1997, it was taken from its original storage location at the chateau in Kroměříž to the depositaries of the Olomouc branch of the Provincial Archives in Opava.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The Olomouc Bishopric was established (renewed) in 1063. The Bishopric was elevated to an Archbishopric in 1777. The complicated development of estate management is linked to the long history of the creator. Administration of archiepiscopal property terminated its activity at the end of 1951.
