- Archival history:
- The fonds documents were kept with the creator and suffered major losses during the Second World War, which were amplified by arbitrary shredding of German documents shortly after 1945. The rest of the documents were taken over in 1956 by the State District Archives in Znojmo, where they were arranged in 1958.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The earliest mention of Vranov nad Dyjí dates from 1848. Until 1848, Vranov belonged to various noble houses and was the centre of the manor; after 1848 it became an independent market town. The municipality has never had a continuous Jewish settlement. In 1850-1949, Vranov nad Dyjí was the district court seat, except during 1943-1945, when it fell under the jurisdiction of the Znojmo district court. Political administration was performed in 1850-1855 and 1868-1949 by the Znojmo district office and in 1855-1868 by the Vranov district office.
