- Scope and content:
- The fonds contains documents from the civil district court in Vyškov. Its importance for Jewish history resides primarily in the probate and inheritance files (call number D, later call number IV, then A and later D again) from 1850-1897, dealing with inheritance proceedings from deceased persons, including those of Jewish origin, and/or death registers and death records from 1850-1897, or guardianship files (call number VIII, later call number P), which dealt with the granting of guardianship and administration of property of minors, extramarital children or persons from whom legal status had been withdrawn for reasons of sickness or alcoholism. These files are of great significance for Jewish genealogy or for the study of social or property relations. Relevant information may also be contained in various dispute cases discussed by the court and document records of land property, particularly land registers and collection of deeds for the land registry from 1850-1919. Documents from the later period have not been arranged.
- Archival history:
- The documents were originally kept with the creator. In 1950 the oldest documents were transferred to the Moravian Provincial Archives and processed there in 1955-1957. Later the fonds was transferred to the Vyškov State District Archives and supplemented with newer parts of the fonds, which, however, are not arranged.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The District Court in Vyškov was established in 1850 and after various changes in territorial powers it continues to function there to this day. The court’s jurisdiction also included the Jewish religious community in Vyškov.
