Scope and content:: The fonds contains documents from the civil and criminal district court in Slavkov u Brna. Its importance for Jewish history resides primarily in the probate and inheritance files (call number D, later call number IV, then A and later D again) from 1924-1949, dealing with inheritance proceedings from deceased persons, including those of Jewish origin, and/or death records from 1925 to 1949, testaments from 1898-1934, or guardianship files from 1850-1959 (call number E, later call number IV and call number P), which dealt with the granting of guardianship and administration of property of minors, extramarital children or persons from whom legal status had been withdrawn for reasons of sickness or alcoholism. These files are of great significance for Jewish genealogy or for the study of social or property relations. Relevant information may also be contained in collection of deeds for the land registry from1872-1919 or agendas of land registers 1850-1923.

Administrative/biographical history:: The District Court in Slavkov u Brna was established in 1850 and existed until 1960. The court’s jurisdiction included the Jewish political communities in Slavov u Brna and Rousínov.
