- Scope and content:
- The fonds contains important resources about the early modern period history of the Jews, including, but not limited to, land registers from the 17th to the 19th century and other individual items from the 19th century. It also includes documents about the appointment of council member David Spitzer as the temporary administrator of the Jewish community in 1850, a fine issued to the Christian and Jewish poor fund in 1850, an overview of Jews in Bučovice from 1857, various Jewish matters, 1878-1930, payment of Jewish religious tax 1879-1893, a dispute between Jews and Christians about payment of a municipal surcharge 1880-1888, construction modifications to a Jewish school, synagogue and cemetery 1892 to 1929, and an item about the persecution of Jews during the Second World War 1939-1945. Attention should also be paid to documents relating to domicile right and population records in the town from 1850 to 1945, documents about the census from 1880-1930, about refugees during the First World War 1914-1919 and about refugees during the Second World War from 1938 to 1945.
- Archival history:
- The documents were originally kept at the town hall, but as a result of poor care most of the oldest documents in the mid-19th century were lost. In 1850, the land registers were handed to the District Court in Bučovice. In the first half of the 20th century documents were stored in an empty synagogue, where they were taken care of by private individuals. Only in 1960, were the documents transferred to the Vyškov State District Archives based in Slavkov. In 1967 the land registers from the State Regional Archives in Brno (now the Moravian Provincial Archives) were merged with the fonds, after they had been transferred to the Moravian Provincial Archives by the District Court in Bučovice. The fonds was most recently added to in 1996 and 2007. The fonds was arranged in 1965, and in 1967 it was added to. In 2006 and 2007 it was arranged again.

- The oldest mentions of Bučovice date from the first half of the 14th century. The market town of Bučovice was the seat of the manor and belonged to various noble houses, from 1597 to 1848 it was the Lichtenstein family. After 1848, Bučovice was an independent municipality and referred to itself as a town. Jewish settlement is in evidence from the 16th century, and after 1848 the local self-government of the Christian and Jewish communities was jointly executed by the town of Bučovice. Bučovice fell under the political district of Vyškov in 1850-1855, 1868-1949 and under Bučovice in 1855-1868. In 1850-1949, the judicial district had its seat in Bučovice.
