- The fonds contains documents of the self-government of Trutnov. Data about the Jewish population of the town in 1850–1945 can be found in the following documents: the Jews, 1942–44 (inv. 421, box 244); charges of Jews for the benefit of the regional rabbi, 1867 (inv. 85, box 2); declaration of the town on the appointment of Max Grossman as rabbi of the Trutnov Jewish community (inv. 93, box 2); construction and building modifications of the synagogue and construction of the Jewish cemetery in Horní Předměstí, including situational and building plans, 1892–1913 (inv. 1063, 1064, call no. 6/1, 6, box 53); construction of a shed at the Jewish cemetery garden centre at 155 Horní Předměstí (inv. 1262, call no. 3011/155, box 64); land issues of the Jewish community in Trutnov, 1941 (inv. 1489, call no. 603/1, box 65); and town museum collections, including artefacts of J Pfefferkorn, 1938–42 (inv. 1508, call no. 661/1, box 66). Attention should also be paid to the following documents: town chronicles, 1850–73, 1873–93, 1893–1904, 1904–14, 1914–18, 1918–24 and 1924–29; books of records, 1861–1938; right of residence, 1850–1945; and construction issues, 1850–1945.
- Archival history:
- The documents were stored at the town hall in Trutnov and moved in 1952 to the ground-floor rooms of the present museum. Some of the documents from 1934–45 were destroyed. Today the documents are stored in the depositories of the state district archive in Trutnov. The fonds was arranged in 1960.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The first record of Trutnov dates from the 13th century. The town was an important centre of the linen industry in the second half of the 19th century. From 1850 it was the seat of the district court and district office, and during the Nazi occupation it was the seat of the Landrat (district councillor) and Landgericht (regional court).
