- Archival history:
- The archive of the municipality of Bernartice is stored in the state district archive in Trutnov where it was transferred in 1959 from the local national committee in Bernartice. A photo album of the village from 1929 was transferred to the archives in 1997. In 1964 the fonds was arranged and an inventory was created. During a rearrangement in 2000 an appraisal was carried out and a new inventory was created.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The village of Bernartice originated in 1297. After the introduction of the municipal system, Bernartice became a separate municipality incorporating the village of Vrchov. It was part of the political district of Trutnov from 1850–55, Žacléř from 1855–68 and Trutnov again after 1945, and the judicial district of Žacléř from 1850–1945. The village’s population was predominantly German. The village had a spinning mill and a flax and jute weaving mill belonging to the Jewish Österreicher family before the Second World War. In 1938, the company was taken over by Jan Etrich KG Enterprises.
