- Scope and content:
- The personal fonds of Oscar Nimsch mainly consists of his handwritten chronicle of Trutnov, which includes information on the Jewish population of the town. These valuable materials include photographic plates depicting the development of the town, such as photos showing the demolition of the Beit Tahara (Jewish ritual building) at the Jewish cemetery (call no. 1/57); a view of Trutnov showing the synagogue (call no. 1/8); a view of a workshop on Struha Street with the synagogue in the background (call no. 2/17); a view of buildings in Struha Street showing the synagogue (call no. 3/41); and a view of the corner of Struha Street and Kapelgasse with the synagogue before Kluge's villa was constructed (call no. 5/35).
- Archival history:
- The fonds mainly consists of the handwritten chronicle of Trutnov, copies of various sources, abstracts, chronological overviews and partial studies, clippings from newspapers and magazines, and photographic plates. After Nimsch’s death, his estate was taken over by the state district archive in Trutnov in 1977. In 1979 the archive also took over a collection of photographic plates showing Trutnov and its neighborhood.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- Oskar Nimsch was born to Jindřich and Terezie Nimsch on 7 July 1887 in Bernartice. He was badly wounded in the First World War. In 1917 he was charged with the task of building the headquarters for flax growing in Trutnov. After 1918 he worked as an audit clerk of the Faltis Company. He participated in the social life in Trutnov and was interested in regional history and photography. He died on 1 May 1976.
