- Scope and content:
- The fonds consists of 114 books containing registers of pupils, class reports and books, class catalogues and one accounting record, a library catalogue.
- Archival history:
- In 1999 the gymnasium (grammar school) in Jevíčko gave some additional documents from local schools, including Volksschule (municipal schools) and Bürgerschule (public schools) to the district archive. Some documents without designation were added to records of the Jewish Volksschule. As the existence of these documents was unknown to the gymnasium management, it can be assumed that after the school’s closure, probably in 1919, its documents were taken over by the Volksschule and Bürgerschule and subsequently by the gymnasium, among whose documents they remained unnoticed until 1999. The fonds was arranged in 2001.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The Jewish school in Jevíčko was officially established in 1785, probably in connection to the Josephinian Reforms, the first records of its activities are from the beginning of the 1840s. In common with other localities, the local rabbi probably educated Jewish children from the inception of the Jewish religious community in Jevíčko. The Jewish school as an independent unit likely ceased to exist in 1919, probably as a result of the abolition of the self-governing Jewish political community.
