- Scope and content:
- The fonds contains documents of the state administration of the Moravská Třebová political district. Only one concerns Jews: Jewish religious communities, 1897–1941 (inv. 1814, binder 1864). Entries in the presidium files section include anti-Jewish provocation-painting over the doors and windows of Jewish businessmen Moritz Brüll and Moritz Moller from Moravská Třebová-(box 18, inv. 74). Census records of all villages of the district, including those seceded in 1938, are preserved from 1857, 1869, 1880, 1900, 1910 and 1921. From these it would be possible to make a list of Jewish people living in the area, though the records are ordered by house numbers. Other documents concerning Jews may be found under church, political and municipal and association affairs.
- Archival history:
- When the Nazis occupied Moravská Třebová in 1938, the fonds was saved from likelu destruction by being moved to Boskovice. After the liberation in 1945 the documents were returned to Moravská Třebová and stored in the rooms of the Moravská Třebová district national committee. The fonds was transferred to the Svitavy district archive in Litomyšl in 1960–61, where it was arranged in 1962. In the following years, more of the fonds was arranged and the arrangement of some sections was improved.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- District offices were established as the lowest-ranking authorities of the newly organised political administration by an imperial act legally that came into force on 1 February 1850. The offices were in operation with partial reforms until May 1945, when they were replaced by district national committees. In 1938 the district offices in areas annexed by Nazi Germany ceased to exist and were replaced under German legislation by Landrat (district councillor) offices. The Moravská Třebová political district was replaced by the Landrat of Moravská Třebová, which incorporated eight municipalities from the Jevíčko court district, 36 from the Moravská Třebová judicial district and 15 municipalities from the Svitavy judicial district.
