Scope and content:: The fonds contains documents of the political administration of the Zábřeh district. Jews are mentioned in the following post-1850 documents: the Jewish religious community in Loštice, community statutes, a list of Jewish communities and their members, the enlargement of the district, the appointing of the rabbi, elections to the council of elders, statements of assets, and budgets, 1884–1933; reports on the state of the Jewish religious community in Loštice, 1901–38; and Jewish religious tax, 1910–38.

Archival history:: Until 1952 the fonds was kept at the district national committee in Zábřeh. It was gradually transferred to the state archive in Janovice u Rýmařova, and in 1956 it was provisionally arranged. In 1961 the documents were taken over by the district archive in Šumperk. The fonds was arranged in 1983–85 and inventoried in 1985.

Administrative/biographical history:: The Bezirkshauptmannschaft (district head office) of Zábřeh was created after 1848 as the lowest instance of the state political administration. In 1855, the political and judicial administrations of first instance were merged and the Bezirksamt (political and judicial district office) of Zábřeh was created. The Bezirkshauptmannschaft was restored on 31 August 1868, including the three original judicial districts of Zábřeh, Mohelnice and Šilperk. It was known as the district political administration after 1919 and the district office again from 1928–38.
