- Scope and content:
- The fonds contains incomplete records of the political and judicial district of Kraslice. The bulk of the registry and the registry finding aids (register and indexes) have been preserved, and the indexes may offer insight even where the relevant files have not been preserved. The following files from 1905–34 relate to Jewish history: religious affairs (call no. 5-1), files of the Jewish religious community, statistical reports, 1925 (call no. 5-1-64); Jewish religious communities, misappropriating and charging municipal property, 1928 (call no. 5-1-80); an inventory of Jewish historical and artistic monuments, 1929 (call no. 5-1-82); Jewish religious communities, eligibility of Jewish rabbis according to Act 57/1890 (call no. 5–1-91). In other registry periods the relevant files either did not survive or their arrangement does not allow a simple search.
- Archival history:
- The files were transferred from the district national committee in Kraslice to the district archive in Sokolov in 1956, and the fonds was later supplemented.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- District offices started to operate in 1850 as Bezirkshauptmannschaft (district head offices) and were known as Bezirksamt (political and judicial district office) from 1855–68, Bezirkshauptmannschaft again from 1868–19, district political offices from 1919–28 and district offices from 1928–45. In the territory annexed by Nazi Germany in 1938 they were replaced by Landrat (district councillor) offices.
