- Scope and content:
- The fonds includes documents of the judicial administration. Jewish issues are directly referred to only in one case: inheritance file A 1903/132, Johanna Schön, Jew, Buřany (who still has a preserved gravestone at the town cemetery in Rokytnice nad Jizerou). Other materials can likely be found in almost every agenda of the court. Persons of Jewish origin must be searched using the preserved indexes and documents on real estate owned by Jews, coordinating the search with the land registry of the relevant land office.
- Archival history:
- Appraisals from the period of the court activities are documented in the presidium files. Due to unclear jurisdictions, some documents were given to the governor's archive and others to the provincial archive. After the second world war, appraisals took place in the regional court registry in Chrastava. Inheritance and guardianship files were not subject to decommissioning. Appraisals continued until 1979. The fonds was processed in 1956 in the state archive in Jablonec nad Nisou. The final arrangement was carried out in 2011.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The district court was established by a regulation of the department of justice from 1 February 1876 for the Czech municipalities of the judicial districts of Rokytnice nad Jizerou, Semily and Železný Brod. During the Nazi occupation some municipalities fell under the Amtsgericht Tannwald (district court of Tanvald) and Rokytnice nad Jizerou. After being briefly restored in its prewar form in 1945, the court was finally closed on 1 February 1949.

- System of arrangement:
- The fonds is divided into two periods (1876-1897, 1898-1949). Due to the registries of three previous district courts from 1850-1876 being combined there were many mistakes in the sorting of files. Therefore, some of them were additionally labelled with letters R (Rochlitz), H (Hochstadt), S (Semil) and E (Eisenbrod). The civil agenda was divided into seven groups (I-VII) and the criminal agenda into five ones (A-E).
