- Scope and content:
- The fonds contains documents of the judicial administration. Jewish issues are directly referred to in only three cases: inv. 588, offences (Jewish trader František Morawitz from Trešť, 1876, box 60); inheritance documents (P 1919–46, Karel Simon, the Jewish owner of the weaving mill in Roztoky u Jilemnice, and A 1920/68, Alexander Simon [the inventory erroneously says Simon], private official, Jew, Roztoky u Jilemnice). Other materials can be likely be found in most other court agendas. Relevant persons of Jewish origin must be searched in the surviving indexes. Documents concerning property owned by Jews must in turn be searched in the collection of documents and coordinated with the land register at the relevant land office.
- Archival history:
- The fonds includes information from December 1943 about transferring 64 parcels of deeds and requests concerning the land registry to the provincial archive. In 1979 regular archival appraisals began. Until 1974, the fonds was deposited in the district archive at the Jilemnice chateau. From 1974–95 it was stored in Bystrá nad Jizerou and then in a new building in Semily. The first part of the fonds was arranged in the state archive in Jablonec nad Nisou in 1954–60. Some collections of documents were arranged in 2007, followed by the entire fonds in 2012.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The district court of Jilemnice was established on 1 July 1850. During the Nazi occupation some of its municipalities fell under the Amtsgericht Hohenelbe (district court of Vrchlabí) and the Amtsgericht Rochlitz (district court of Rokytnice nad Jizerou). From 1945 the district court was seated in Rokytnice nad Jizerou, and from February 1 1949 its jurisdiction covered the entire political district of Jilemnice.

In 1855, the civil and criminal agendas were separated and new registry finding aids were created (indexes and the elenchi). The civil agenda was divided into seven groups (I-VII) and the criminal agenda into five ones (A-E).
