Scope and content:: The fonds includes documents of the district court of Rokytnice v Orlických horách. Information about the Jewish population and the local Jewish community can be found in the following materials: files of land changes (1865-1897), court files of land tenure (1865–97) and civil files (1865–97). Attention should also be paid to the following documents: books of inheritance estates (1868–1917), registers of civil disputes (1933–38), testaments (1848–1938 (1945)), files of inheritance estates and death records (1858–1938), civil and ordinary disputes (1925–35), cadastral maps of municipalities (1840) and books of charters (1883–1909). The charter books contain contracts and other documents concerning the transfer of real estate and any other changes in possession of land in the municipalities within the court’s jurisdiction.

Archival history:: In 1965, the material was taken from the state regional archive in Zámrsk in Kuks and processed and arranged in the same year. After the appraisal process at the district court of Ústí nad Orlicí, it was discovered that the registry of that court contained documents from 1924–38 that had been thought lost. This material was passed to the state district archive in Rychnov nad Kněžnou and incorporated into the fonds of the district court of Rokytnice v Orlických horách. In 2001 further material on land tenure and real estate transfers from 1865–97 was taken from the state district archive in Ústí nad Orlicí. This material was inventoried and indexes to individual files were created.

Administrative/biographical history:: The district court of Rokytnice v Orlických horách was established in 1869, attached to the Bezirkshauptmannschaft (district head office) in Žamberk. The court’s territory included municipalities taken from the district court and Bezirkshauptmannschaft of Rychnov nad Kněžnou and Žamberk. In 1938, after the Munich Agreement, the district court was abolished and replaced by the German Amtsgericht.
