- Scope and content:
- The fonds contains documents of the municipal self-government in Otice. Only inv. 32 relates to the issue of the Jewish community, containing decrees of the Landrat (district councillor) from 1939-44 prohibiting Jews from using municipal property and records of all part-Jewish and Jewish-affiliated persons for the purpose of forced labour.
- Archival history:
- The documents were initially filed in the municipal office and after 1945 in the municipal national committee building in Otice. They were transferred to the district archive in Opava in 1967 and arranged in 1997.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- Otice (German: Ottendorf) lies 3.5 kilometres southwest of Opava. After 1850 it was an independent municipality of the judicial and political district of Opava. At the census in 1900, nine people from a total population of 819 professed to the Jewish faith; in 1930 this had fallen to six of 1,135. Since 1850 Otice has also included the settlement of Rybníčky, formerly known as Provazovec (German: Liechtenstein).
