- Scope and content:
- The fonds consist of the archive of the political administration of the Broumov district (Broumov and Police nad Metují court districts, and Teplice nad Metují from 22 April 1892). The inventory includes only very brief entries. Jews are not mentioned specifically; the small local Jewish community was attached to the religious community in the Czech town of Náchod. Relevant materials might be found in trade and industry files such as inv. 342 (sign. 9/25), Moritz Schur company factory plans, 1879; religious files (sign. 5); nationality, emigration, domicile law and registry office matters (sign. 4); or police files (sign. 8). The files on associations are completely missing. Catalogue entries are detailed but no mentions of the Jewish community were found there.
- Archival history:
- The Broumov district office archive was transferred in 1953-58 to the Kuks state archive, where it was inventoried. After 1960 the fonds was administratively transferred to the Náchod district archive, but for lack of space stayed physically stored in Kuks under the administration of the state regional archive in Zámrsk. It was physically handed over to the Náchod state district archive in 1991.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- District offices were established as the lowest level of the newly organised political administration based on an act of 26 June 1849 which came into force on 1 February 1850. With reforms, these offices were in operation until May 1945 when they were replaced by district national committees. From 30 September 1938 in the areas annexed by Nazi Germany district offices ceased to exist and were replaced by Landrat (district councillors‘ offices) under German legislation.
