- Archival history:
- The materials were stored at the municipal office, then called the town office, in Kopisty. After 1945 they were stored at the municipal national committee in Kopisty, from where they were transferred in 1958 to the district archives in Most, where they were arranged between 1965 and 1971. In 1988 some unarranged documents were found, so in 1997 the fonds was rearranged and provided with a final inventory.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The first credible record of Kopisty (German: Kopitz) dates from 1227. After the administrative reform of 1848-50 it was incorporated into the judicial and political district of Most. The development of the town was linked with the local expansion of mining in the last quarter of the 19th century. In 1911 Kopisty was given town status. From 1938-45 it was part of the Reichsgau Sudetenland, Landkreis (rural district) of Most. In 1941 it was merged with the town of Most.
