- Archival history:
- The records were initially kept in the registry of the district court of Úštěk. Some of the records were moved to the archive of the interior ministry in Prague before 1938. In 1949-53 the material in the fonds was transferred to the regional archives in Litoměřice, and in 1955 and 1960 the land registry records were transferred from the archive of the interior ministry to the same location. In 1961 the fonds was moved to the district archives in Litoměřice. This portion of the records was inventoried in 1997. The last portion of the records was moved to the district archives in Litoměřice in 2004-14.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The district court of Úštěk began its operations in June 1850 as a court of first instance for civil matters in the newly founded judicial district of Úštěk. In a reform of the state administration, new district office (Bezirksamt) with joint political and judicial powers came into being in 1855; the new office Úštěk was active from 1 June 1855. The period of Bezirksamt came to an end in 1868, when there was a definitive separation of political and judicial powers, and judicial powers were transferred to the independent district court of Úštěk. The district court was abolished on 8 October 1938, when it was taken over by the German state authority.
