- Archival history:
- The fonds originated from activities of the municipal office of Doubí. Some of the documents, in very poor condition, were taken over by the District Archives in Liberec in 1957. In 1962 the fonds was arranged. In the 1960s the documents were stored in the church of St Anthony of Padua in Liberec-Ruprechtice. Other documents were taken by the municipal national committee of Doubí in 1975. In 1992 the records were transferred to the archival depository in Machnín. The fonds was newly arranged between January and May 2006.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The first record of the municipality of Doubí (then Dubye) dates from 1412, and until the 16th century the municipality was mentioned under the Czech name. From 1850 the municipality was in the political and judicial district of Liberec. The residents were employed mainly in agriculture, the Wondrak carpet factory, the Porsche brickworks and the Lederer & Wolf textile company. About a quarter of the population was Czech in 1910 and almost half at the beginning of the First Czechoslovak Republic. In 1930 there were slightly more Czechs than Germans, which was exceptional in that area. In 1938-45 Doubí was part of the German Third Reich and most Czechs were forced to leave the town.
