- Scope and content:
- The fonds includes documents of the political administration of the district of Kroměříž, largely from the post-1900 period. The Jewish communities in Kroměříž during the Protectorate are dealt with in documents of the presidium registry: a list of Jewish residents (1939), identification of apartments of Jewish family members (1939), dissemination of antisemitic leaflets (1939, 1941) and a lecture by J. Viktorin from Lipník on the topic of Jews in power (1940).
- Archival history:
- The fonds was taken from the registry of the district national committee in Kroměříž to the state archives in Uherské Hradiště in 1954 and handed over to the district archives of Kroměříž in Holešov in 1962-63, where it was arranged in 1967-68. In 1967-73 the presidium files were catalogued. A small amount of subsequent acquisitions remains unarranged.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The Bezirkshauptmannschaft (district head office) of Kroměříž arose in 1850 as a first-instance body of the political administration. In 1855-68 there was a Bezirksamt (political and judicial district office) for political administration and judiciary. In 1868 the political district of Kroměříž was restored, administered by the district Bezirkshauptmannschaft and operating until 1945 (its name was changed to district political administration office after the establishment of Czechoslovakia and to district office in 1928). The district’s territory was reduced in 1877 due to the formation of the political district of Přerov. From 1942-45 the territory of the judicial district of Holešov was included in the political district of Kroměříž. The territory of the political district of Kroměříž had Jewish communities in Kroměříž (religious), Kojetin (until 1877), Tovačov (religious) and Přerov (political).
