- Administrative/biographical history:
- The first Jewish family settled in Kroměříž with the permission of the Bishopric of Olomouc in 1322. In the early 15th century there already existed a Jewish community. In 1643 the community was severely affected by the Swedish invasion. After 1850 there was a Jewish religious community which was briefly restored in 1945. Kroměříž was the birthplace of writer Max Grünfeld (1856-1933) and art historian Adolf Donath (1876-1937), and the workplace of rabbi Adolf Frankl-Grün (1847-1916), author of the history of the Kroměříž Jewish community. Historical monuments include the Renaissance town hall from 1687-88 and part of the new cemetery.
