Scope and content:: The fonds includes presidium files and files of the civil and criminal agendas, including registry finding aids (files registers and indexes). Relevant to the history of the Jewish population in the Holešov region are selectively preserved files of affluent merchants (1850-97), containing inventories of their properties. Information can be obtained by using registry finding aids.

Archival history:: The fonds was taken over by the district archives in Kroměříž in the early 1960s and registered in 1962. It was gradually supplemented with archival records selected during subsequent appraisals. A partial inventory was created in 1993 for documents from 1850-97.

Administrative/biographical history:: The district court in Holešov began operating in 1850 with jurisdiction in both contested and non-contested civil disputes (inheritance and guardianship matters, civil disputes and property seizures) and criminal matters (misdemeanors, involvement in crime investigation). The court also kept a land book. In its subject and territorial jurisdictions the court operated until January 1949. After reorganisations of the judiciary carried out since 1949 it operated as the people's court in Holešov until 1960, when it ceased to exist during another territorial reorganisation.

System of arrangement:: The fonds includes official books, registry finding aids and judicial documents. The documents are arranged according to the original filing systems.
