- Archival history:
- Archival documents of Kašperské Hory were originally deposited at the local town hall. The municipal authority office burned down in 1919, and it is possible that this fire destroyed documents from the second half of the 19th century, as only a few remained in the fonds. After the establishment of the regional museum in Kašperské Hory, some of the documents were included in museum’s collections, the rest staying at the town hall. From 1957-63 the documents were formally accepted by the district archives in Sušice. Some of the documents from 1938-45 that remained at the town hall were allegedly destroyed in the 1980s. The fonds was arranged from 1998-2006.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The first record of the town of Kašperské Hory dates from 1325. Thanks to local gold mines, it became a mining town with its own local self-government. Self-government and delegated political authority were performed by the municipality after 1850. The municipality also became the seat of the district government and district court. After the Munich Agreement, Kašperské Hory was attached to Germany as part of the Bayerische Ostmark, with its seat in Regensburg. The creator ceased to exist in May 1945 with the formation of the national committees.
