Scope and content:: The fonds contains documents of the political administration of the town of Nový Bohumín. Jews are mentioned in the following documents: a list of names of persons with right of domicile in the town, 1888-1938; the census record of Šunychl, 31 December 1910. Issues concerning the Holocaust can be found in the following files: Decrees and regulations relating to the Jewish and Polish population, 1939-42; Lists of names of Jews living in the town, 1939-42; Lists of names of Jews transported from the town, 1939; Granting of travel authorisation to Jews, 1940-42; Shutting down of Jewish shops, 1939.

Archival history:: Documents relating to the political administration of the town of Nový Bohumín were taken from the archives of the town of Ostrava in 1960. The fonds was arranged in 1974 and completed in 1992.

Administrative/biographical history:: The town of Nový Bohumín arose from the construction of the Ferdinand Northern Railways that linked Vienna and Krakow. Nový Bohumín was originially in the municipality of Šunychl (now the district of Bohumín), where new residents began to settle due to the expansion of railways and factories. Nový Bohumín is today part of the town of Bohumín.
