- The fonds includes documents of the self-government of the town of Ostrov. The Jewish population is referred to in documents from the following files: Supervision of Jews, Jewish property, 1938-44 (box 121).
- Archival history:
- The documents of the archives of Ostrov were transferred to the district archives in Karlovy Vary in 1958. There were further additions to the fonds from 1972-2009.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- Ostrov was first indirectly referred to as a royal town under the privilege of John of Luxembourg in 1331. After the Hussite wars Ostrov belonged to various noble families, and in 1798 it was taken over by the royal chamber. The municipal office of Ostrov ceased to exist in 1945 after the end of the German occupation.
