- Scope and content:
- The fonds contains well-preserved records of the political administration office in Nová Bystřice. There are materials concerning military and civil registers, matters of individual municipalities within the district, migration and religious matters including church foundations and Jewish religious communities. Sources on Jewish history are mainly in section V, religious matters - rabbis, Jewish communities (filing cabinets 25-27).
- Archival history:
- The district office in Nová Bystřice was active from 1855-68. In 1868 its archive was transferred to its judicial successor in Jindřichův Hradec. From there it was probably handed over in 1940 to a German file commission and transferred to Austria. In 1951 it was returned - partly charred - by Austrian authorities to the state archives in Třeboň through the ministry of interior archives. Nevertheless the fonds is mostly preserved. It was sorted in 1960 and given along with its inventory to the district archives in Jindřichův Hradec in 1961.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The district office in Nová Bystřice was active from 1855-68. The commissioner of the Bezirkshauptmannschaft (district head office) of Jindřichův Hradec was active here. The office was closed in 1868 during the reorganisation of the political administration. Despite demands for its preservation, only the district court remained open.

- The original filing scheme was preserved when sorting the fonds. The fonds is arranged as follows: administrational and registry books, filing protocols, presidial files, court and state, nobility- medals - honours, municipal matters (sorted according to municipalities), citizenship - domicile right - register, religious matters, teaching instruction and education, health care, policing, construction and fire safety, charitable institutions and foundations, agriculture and industry, finances - taxes, cadastre.
