- Administrative/biographical history:
- The municipality of Písečné (previously Písečná) is first mentioned in 1366. The municipality was a liege property and in 1769 became the property of the counts of Collaltos, who stayed there until the 20th century. The German population was predominant in the town, but Jewish and Czech minorities were also strongly represented, with a Jewish presence documented since the 17th century and a Jewish school active until the end of the 18th century. The Jewish political community existed in parallel with the public municipal administration until 1920, when they were merged. Politically, Písečná belonged to the Dačice political district from 1850-1938 and the Landrat Weidhofen an der Thaya, Niederdonau region from 1938-45.
