Jewish matters can be found in documents concerning municipal issues: obtaining right of domicile and the keeping of Jewish registers of births, deaths and marriages, 1855-68 (inv. 68). The documents are stored by individual year and largely consist of correspondence with the district office in Jeseník and the local Jewish religious community, regulations of the Silesian provincial government in Opava, documents relating to right of domicile of Jews in Vidnava and issues of individual Jewish families. Relevant also are the official books of issued domicile certificates, 1855-68 (inv. 3-8).
- Archival history:
- The files of the Bezirksamt (political and judicial district office) in Vidnava were stored, after the abolition of the office, in the district court building in Vidnava, from where they were probably taken in 1938 to the German Reich archives in Opava (now the land archives). They were transferred to the Regional Archives in Janovice u Rýmařova in 1952 and to the district archives of Šumperk in Javornik in 1961. The fonds was moved again in 1982 to the district archives in Šumperk, where it was arranged, and once more in 1996 to the newly established state district archives in Jeseník.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The Bezirksamt (political and judicial district office) of Vidnava (German: Weidenau) originated during the reorganisation of political and judicial administrations in 1855 and existed until 1868. It was divided into political, judicial and revenue offices. In 1868, after the abolition of the Bezirksamt, the judicial district of Vidnava was included in the jurisdiction of the newly established Bezirkshauptmannschaft (district head office) in Jeseník (Frývaldov), from which it was separated in 1855. The judicial district was part of the political district of Jeseník until 1938.
