- Scope and content:
- The fonds contains documents of the Dolní Lipová local government, principally from 1938-45. Jews are mentioned primarily in the documents relating to seizing of their assets, 1941-45 (inv. 16), reports on local Jews, names and residences in the municipality and departure from the municipality if applicable, forms with regulations on Jewish affairs and municipal reports on the movement of Jews for the Gestapo. Also relevant are documents concerning population records, 1935-39 (inv. 25), admission and discharge from the domicile union, 1937 (inv. 41) and forced eviction from 1936-38 (inv. 71).
- Archival history:
- The municipality's archive was for a long time stored in the mayor's office, and as the older documents were not preserved, even in fragments, the organisation of the registry office can only be guessed by analogy from other municipal registry offices. After 1945 the local national committee took over the archive, but performed extensive appraising of the older material, including official books, so only fragments remain of the original municipal archive. In 1961 the whole fonds was transferred from the national committee Lipová-lázně to the district archives of Šumperk in Javorník and organised and arranged by archivist Dr R. Zuber in 1974. In 1987 the fonds was moved to the head office in Šumperk and in 1996, upon redistricting, to the newly formed Jeseník State District Archives.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The village of Dolní Lipová (German: Nieder Lindewiese until 1945, Czech: Dolní Lipová from 1869, Lipová-lázně from 1960 by amalgamation with Horní Lipová), formed in the second half of the 13th century, was first mentioned in writing in 1290 under the name Lynde. Until 1848 the municipality was part of the Jeseník manor and from 1850-1949 it was part of the Jeseník judicial and political district. In 1806 Dolní Lipová had 275 houses and 1609 residents, which increased after the well-known local spa was established. During the first Czechoslokak Republic there were nine Jews living in Dolní Lipová, the most prominent being the factory owner Petr Westen, majority shareholder of the Schroth Treatment Institute of Dolní Lipová. Westen's assets in Dolní Lipová were Aryanised in 1938.
