- Archival history:
- The registry office of the deanery was originally located in the deanery building. After the second world war the documents were stored in the oratory of the Church of the Assumption in Mašťov. They were transferred in 1958 to the district archives of Podbořany in Blšany, where the collection was organised and inventoried. Due to the 1960 local and regional reform, the Podbořany archives were closed and the files taken over by the district archives of Louny. From there the archive collection of the deanery in Mašťov was transferred to the district archives of Chomutov in Kadaň (called the state district archives since 1992).
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The first records of the existence of the church administration in Mašťov date back to the late 12th century, and of the parish in Maštov to the 14th century (the first parish church was dedicated to St Barbara; since 1580 there has been a Church of the Assumption in the village). In 1782 the parish became a deanery. A Jewish community in Mašťov was first recorded in the first half of the 16th century but it is assumed to have existed earlier — the Jewish cemetery supposedly originated in the 15th century. The size of the Jewish community peaked in the 19th century. The 1830 synagogue was demolished in 1948.
