- Administrative/biographical history:
- Mariánské Lázně became an independent municipality headed by a reeve in 1812 and gained its statute in 1818. In 1848 the servile relationship of Mariánské Lázně towards the Teplá monastery ceased to apply and it was subordinated to the Bezirkshauptmannschaft (district head office) in Teplá and the Cheb regional office. In 1902 Mariánské Lázně became the seat of the Bezirkshauptmannschaft . In 1866 the spa gained its statute as a town. In 1861 a Jewish hospital with a prayer room was opened at 102 Lesní Street, and in 1884 a synagogue was opened. On 10 November 1938 the Nazis burned down the synagogue and damaged the Jewish cemetery.
