- Archival history:
- The fonds of the District Office in Místek was handed over from the District National Committee to the State Archives in Opava in the years 1953-1957, from where it was transferred to the District Archives in Opava and then in the same year to the District Archives in Frýdek-Místek. In 1959 an inventory was created. The fonds was arranged in 1985.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The Bezirkshauptmannschaft (district head office) in Místek was established during the reorganisation of the state administration in 1849. It included three judicial districts - the District Court in Místek, Moravská Ostrava and Frenštát. In 1853, within the scope of a reform of the judicial and political administration, the Bezirkshauptmannschaft’s authority was divided into three district offices - Místek, Moravská Ostrava and Frenštát. In 1855, in the merger of political and judicial administration, the Bezirksamt (political and judicial district office) of Místek was appointed and functioned until 1868. In 1868, the Bezirkshauptmannschaft’s office in Místek was reinstated, which included three judicial districts - Místek, Moravská Ostrava and Frenštát. The Bezirkshauptmannschaft’s office was subordinate to the Moravian governorship in Brno. In 1900, the Judicial District of Moravská Ostrava was excluded from the Bezirkshauptmannschaft in Místek and the Bezirkshauptmannschaft’s Moravská Ostrava was newly established. In 1941, the Statutory town of Moravská Ostrava was constituted and the Bezirkshauptmannschaft Moravská Ostrava was abolished and some of its villages were newly included in the District Místek. In 1942 the Frýdek District was abolished and it was attached to the Místek District. In 1942 this merged Místek District was renamed Frýdek. In 1945 the administration was taken over by the District National Committee of Frýdek-Místek.
