- Scope and content:
- The archival fonds comprises the documents of the local self-government for the town of Bělá nad Radbuzou, in which a small Jewish population settled in the 18th century. The files concerning Jewish inhabitants in the archival fonds are primarily those regarding property, which includes information on the confiscation of Jewish property by Nazi municipal representatives in 1939–1942 (inv. No. 65, No. 19). Other files of interest include those of the population register, matters of domicile right and business licence matters (inv. No. 10, box 10, inv. No. 34, No. 3, inv. No. 35, No. 4, inv. No. 58, No. 15, inv. No.. 64, No. 16).
- Archival history:
- The archival fonds documents were stored at the town hall in Bělá nad Radbuzou. They were transferred to the archives by the National Committee Bělá nad Radbuzou in 1959 and 1963. The documents were ordered chronologically and showed no signs of previous organisation. Given its small size, the fonds is likely incomplete.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The first written mention of Bělá nad Radbuzou is found in Cosmas's Chronicle of the year 1121. The oldest history of Bělá nad Radbuzou is closely connected to the castle Přimda, to which it belonged until the beginning of the 17th century. In 1600, Bělá nad Radbuzou was acquired by the Lamingens of Albenreuth, after which it passed between several noble families, the last of which were the Kotz of Dobrš family. Since 1876 Bělá nad Radbuzou has been a market town, since 1964 it has the status of a town. A Jewish settlement has been on record here since the first quarter of the 18th century. The small religious community even had its own school and teacher in the 19th century. Around 1890 it dissolved, however, and joined with the Jewish community in Mutěnín.
