- Archival history:
- The files from the pre-1870 period were handed over to the former archives of the Ministry of Interior in 1937. From there they were handed over, in 1940, to a German commission of records and taken to Austria. They were returned within the restitution process carried out between Czechoslovakia and Austria, and in 1951 they were transferred to the then State Archives in Třeboň. Another part of the material was transferred to the State Archives in Třeboň directly from the registry of the People's Court of Kaplice in 1952. In 1957, the files from 1850-1897 were roughly appraised and arranged. In 1960, these files were inventoried. In 1970, the land books were catalogued in the District Archives in Český Krumlov. In 2013 a new division of the books was made.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The District Court of Vyšší Brod was established within the reform of the judicial and political administration. It started to operate in June 1850 within the territories of the Regional Court in České Budějovice and the District Criminal Court of Český Krumlov. Its territorial power included municipalities of the newly established judicial district of Vyšší Brod. In 1855, a Bezirksamt (political and judicial district office) combining the political and judicial agendas was established in Vyšší Brod operating in the same area as the District Court. Within the 1868 reform the 1850 situation was restored. In October 1938 the entire judicial district of Vyšší Brod was annexed by the German Reich. The District Court of Vyšší Brod was abolished and a German District Court (Amtsgericht) was set up in its stead. After liberation from the Nazis in 1945 the jurisdiction of the District Court of Vyšší Brod was transferred to the District Court of Kaplice within the territorial adjustments carried out in September of 1945. In January 1949, the District Court of Vyšší Brod was abolished and its agenda was taken over by the People's Court of Kaplice.
