- The fonds contains documents of the self-government of the town of Doksy. Jews are mentioned in the materials from the period of the Nazi Occupation - management of the municipality: inv. No. 772 Administration of the seized and abandoned houses and Jewish property (1938-1945). Attention should also be paid to the documents which relate to register issues and statistics, for example inv. No. 690 The census of the population according to religion (1927) and the censuses in 1857 and 1880.
- Archival history:
- Some of the documents of the municipal office of Doksy were transferred to the then District Archives in Doksy in 1954 and some of them remained temporarily stored, due to lack of space, in the attic of the town hall. However, they were later moved out from there and destroyed without a proper appraisal process, which meant a significant damage to the fonds, especially in the part from the period of the Nazi Occupation. In the State District Archives Česká Lípa the archive of the town of Doksy was inventoried in 1964.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The oldest record of the name of Doksy dates from 1293, being found in a charter of King Wenceslas II. The town of Doksy, however, was established earlier, probably in connection with the construction of the castle Bezděz. Since the late 19th century, Doksy began to change into a tourist resort and a recreational spa centre. In 1848-1945, Doksy fell under the political district of Dubá.
