Archive of the Town of Zákupy

Collection

Scope and content:: The fonds contains documents of the town of Zákupy. Jewish issues can be found in the following archive material: inv. No. 350 Jews, industrial construction (1848-1850); economic Affairs: inv. No. 746 Sale of beer and liquor in the establishment of Jew Oesterreicher - his property, a dispute about his taproom (1839-1857). Attention should also be paid to the documents relating to trades and population registers, for example, local reports accompanying the censuses of 1869, 1890, 1900, and 1910.

Archival history:: Originally the documents of the town council were stored in the building of the town hall. In 1945, the documents were taken over by the National Committee and the cabinets in which they were stored were sealed. In July of 1958, the registry from the 16th century to 1938 was moved to the State District Archives in Česká Lípa. The documents from the period of the Nazi Occupation remained stored in Zákupy until 1963 when they were also transferred to the archives. In 1979-1980, a comprehensive arrangement of the fonds was carried out.

Administrative/biographical history:: The first record of Zákupy dates back to 1352. In 1848-1855 and 1868-1938 the town fell within the political district of Česká Lípa, in 1855-1867 within the political district of Mimoň and in 1938-1945 within the political district of Jablonné v Podještědí.

System of arrangement:: The archive of the town of Zákupy is divided into charters, books, files, maps and other material. Files are further divided into registry finding aids and files which are divided into three registry periods (1850, 1850-1938 and 1938-1945).
