- Scope and content:
- The fonds contains documents of the self-government of the town of Stráž pod Ralskem. From the period of the Nazi occupation there is a file of finances and taxes: inv. No. 766 Forced property administration - Jewish and Czech assets (1939-1942). Attention should also be paid to documents relating to the registration of the civilian population (registration books) and the police administration in the period of 1939-1945.
- Archival history:
- The documents of the municipal office were stored in the building of the town hall of Stráž pod Ralskem. However, in 1939 a number of the documents were taken over by the newly established museum. After 1945, the documents from the museum in Stráž pod Ralskem were transferred to the museum in Česká Lípa, from where they were moved to the State District Archives in Česká Lípa in 1961. The documents remaining in Stráž pod Ralskem were handed over to the Archives by the Municipal National Committee in Stráž pod Ralskem during the appraisals carried out in 1959 and 1972. In 1973, the fonds was arranged.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The town was established in the second half of the 13th century and in the first two centuries of its existence it belonged to the house of Vartemberk (Wartemberg). Stráž pod Ralskem fell within the political district of Česká Lípa in 1848-1855 and 1868-1938. In 1855-1867, it was part of the political district of Mimoň and in 1938-1945 it was part of the political district of Jablonné v Podještědí.

- The archive of the town of Stráž pod Ralskem is divided into four registry periods: the earliest period of the municipal self-government, the period of the municipal self-government under Austrian rule, the period of the First Czechoslovak Republic and the period of Nazi Occupation. Then it is subdivided into deeds (only for the earliest period of the town self-government, i.e. until 1850), books and files.
