- Scope and content:
- The fonds contains documents of the political administration of the Krnov district and partly substitutes the completely destroyed archives of municipalities of the Osoblažsko region. The fonds includes an agenda of statements concerning the Jewish religious communities in Krnov and Osoblaha, the maintenance and inspection of the Jewish registers of births, deaths and marriages, matters of the Jewish cemetery in Osoblaha in the period of 1874-1938, the talks about the demolition of the old synagogue in Osoblaha from 1929-1932 and its inventory. There are also important documents about individual industrial enterprises, including enterprises and trades of Jewish owners and a register of Jewish associations within the register of associations. Among the census records which include the Jewish inhabitants only that from 1921 is complete.
- Archival history:
- The documents of the fonds were taken over after 1945 by the former District National Committee in Krnov. In the 1950s, they were handed over to the State Archives in Opava and joined with the part taken over in 1939 by the former German Reich Archives. In the State Archives in Opava they were gradually arranged and, in 1962, the entire surviving files of the District Office in Krnov were transferred to the Krnov branch of the Bruntál District Archives. In 1983-1985 the fonds was arranged.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The Political District Krnov (Jägerndorf in German) was established in 1850. In 1855, on the territory of the former Political District Krnov three Bezirksamt (political and judicial district offices) were formed covering the areas of jurisdiction of the former judicial districts. In 1868, the Political District Krnov was restored, almost in its original territorial scope. It came to an end in 1938 when the entire political district was annexed by Germany.
- System of arrangement:
- The fonds is arranged as follows: I. Official books, II. Files, III. Accounting materials, IV. Maps and plans, V. Other materials, Addenda. The Files are subdivided into individual registry periods and a special part includes census records.
