- Archival history:
- The written documents of the market town and later town of Velké Pavlovice were stored at the town hall. No file system was adhered to in their storage, although the correspondence was stored chronologically. From the older period virtually no documents have been preserved. Several tranches of documents were destroyed during numerous relocations of the municipal office, primarily at the beginning of the 20th century and in 1952, when the remainder of the preserved documentation was stored in the attic of the Municipal National Committee. From here it was transferred to the District Archives in Mikulov in 1960, where it was arranged and inventoried in 1966. Because this arrangement was inadequate for today's requirements, in 2014 the fonds was designated as an unarranged fonds and will be arranged again.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- Velké Pavlovice (in German Großpawlowitz, in the period 1939-1945 Groß-Paulowitz) was first mentioned in the 13th century. From 1594 it was an independent estate of the manor of Hodonín. After 1848 it was an independent political community, in 1891 it was raised to the status of market town and in 1961 to a town. No Jewish community ever existed here, but individual Jewish families lived here in various time periods. During the years of 1850-1949 Velké Pavlovice belonged to the political district of Hustopeče, with the exception of the period of 1942-1945, when it was within the jurisdiction of the district of Hodonín. Judicial administration was performed in the period of 1850-1949 by the district court in Hustopeče, with the exception of 1938-1945, when Velké Pavlovice was within the jurisdiction of the district court in Klobouky.
