- The fonds comprises records of the administration of the estate of Žitná. For the study of Jewish history, the following files will be of particular interest: inv. No. 31 - Jewish chief book on the seats in the synagogue from the period of (1820) 1834-1862, inv. No. 34 - Lists of Jews, houses, protection payments, and sale contracts from 1807-1850. Records related to the Jewish population can be expected in other land books, too.
- Archival history:
- The land books were handed over to the Archives of Czech Land which was later included in the State Central Archives in Prague (now the National Archives). From there they were transferred in the 1960s to the State Archives in Plzeň where they were catalogued and in the early 1970s included in the fonds of the Estate of Žitná. The other surviving documents were handed over to the Regional Archives in Loket, then to the State Archives in Kadaň, and in 1969 to the Žlutice branch of the State Archives in Plzeň. In 2006, the entire fonds, including the land books, was transferred the Klášter branch of the State Regional Archives in Plzeň where other archival records were added to it.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The first record of the village of Žitná dates from 1370. It was the centre of a farm bearing the same name. In 1882, Žitná was bought by Prince Otto Friedrich Schönburg-Waldenburg and incorporated into his estate of Císařský les-Kladská which was confiscated in 1945. The territory of the former estate of Žitná was included, after 1945, into a military training area of Prameny and the village of Žitná disappeared. Until 1850 the manorial office pursued the economic management of the manor and on the basis of delegated powers it also functioned as the lowest instance of state administration. After 1850, the management of the estate mainly dealt with economic issues.
