- The fonds contains archival records from the activity of the regional office of Plzeň, providing valuable economic, social, political, religious and cultural insights. Only about a quarter of the office’s original registry has been preserved. For study of Jewish history, the records series of the former Department 4 (Citizenship, domicile right), 5 (Religious matters), 8 (Police matters) and 11 (Agriculture, trades, trade and industry, transport) are good resources. In particular, the following individual documents will be of interest: inv. № 76 (call № 4/2) Changes in citizenship (emigration, immigration), the archival records of which from 1853-1857 are found in boxes № 14 and 15; inv. № 89 (call № 8/5), Associations from 1854-1868, which are stored in box № 30; inv. № 99 (call № 11/29), Commercial and industrial enterprises (these are ordered alphabetically according to the surnames of the entrepreneurs) from 1842-1860, which are located in box № 33.
- Archival history:
- After dissolution of the office, its registry was stored in the Plzeň District Head Office (Beziskshauptmannschaft), the future district office. At the time of the Nazi occupation, it was taken over by the Archives of the Ministry of the Interior in Prague. The registry was arranged here and after the war handed over to the Regional Archives in Plasy, from where it was moved to the State Archives in Plzeň. The fonds was arranged and inventoried in 1961.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The Regional Office in Plzeň (Pilsen in German) was established in 1855. After its dissolution, it was replaced in 1862 by the Office of the Regional Chief in Plzeň, which ended its activity in 1868. This was a second-ranking political office.

A significant part of the fonds is constituted by the General registry which was divided into 13 departments.
