- The fonds of the Regional Court of Liberec contains court files of all types of agenda. The separately held company agenda is of importance for study of Jewish history, specifically the companies and businesses of Jewish owners. The court kept commercial register files and commercial protocols (later registers) for the whole judicial district of the Regional Court and later an associations’ index was also introduced. Commercial register files are stored under inv. № 498-527.
- Archival history:
- The fonds was processed in the branch of the State Archives in Liberec in 1962-1963. In 1986, the archives took on other materials, criminal files from 1945-1948 and the company agenda. A catalogue of press files and a selective catalogue of criminal files was processed for the fonds. Documents of the Insurance Court in Liberec and the Youth Court in Liberec were set aside from the fonds in 2001 and a separate new inventory created for them. The fonds of the Trade Court in Liberec were also set aside from the fonds, which was transferred to the State District Archives Liberec.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The Regional Court of Liberec was established in 1850. Its administrative district included 7 District Courts (Frýdlant, Chrastava, Jablonec nad Nisou, Jablonné v Podještědí, Liberec, Nové Město pod Smrkem and Tanvald). In 1938-1945, its activity was taken over by the German courts. In 1945, the court was re-established and operated until 1949, when reform of judicial administration took place.
